Plan your move ahead. Make sure you have the full details of your vehicles: year, make, model, dimensions and weight. Get a vessel sailing schedule - it may take over 45 days to get your container to a different country by ocean. It's always a good idea to check on the Customs regulation in the foreign country to avoid unnecessary problems once you cargo arrives there. For example, some countries do not allow entry of motorized vehicles more than 7 years old.

Request shipping quote from the international shipping company. Be ready to provide all required details about cargo and origin & destination, so that moving company can make the right choices for shipping. If you're shipping any items that have been in contact with soil (tractors, cranes, combines, etc.) make sure you pressure-clean them before shipping. Some countries are particularly sensitive about those items. For the boats - it's always a good idea to have them shrink-wrapped.

Be ready to provide required export documents of everything you're shipping:  a motorized vehicle needs to have the Original Title. US Customs requires title validation for every vehicle leaving the country; your address & contact numbers at destination. If you're not the receiver of the cargo or will not be able to receive the cargo at destination yourself, you need to nominate the person or company responsible for that. Shipping company will provide you with Ocean Bill of Lading which is a legal transport document required to receive and clear the cargo at destination. It's a wise decision to purchase marine insurance for your cargo (see link below).

Upon arrival of your cargo to the port of country of destination you need to arrange for Customs clearance and delivery. You will be notified a few days before the arrival of your container by the agent. That's why it's important to provide the contact information before you leave US. You can decide to use your own means to handle the container or utilize the services of port agents. You need to remember that there will be additional charges for terminal container handling, customs clearance, documentation and delivery. They are payable in the local currency to the handling agent. You need to act fast because ocean carriers only provide a few days to pick up the cargo from the port before the storage charges start piling.
